I'm in New York these days for a conference and since my hotel is very conveniently located near Broadway, I decided to offer myself the experience of a musical. I had no idea what to choose, so I simply picked one that has been running for the past five years. It's called "Mamma Mia" and funnily enough it turns out that the story happens on a Greek island (I'm Greek and had no idea when I chose the show). It's been a magnificent performance and I had excellent fun. The show is about the wedding of Sophie or Sofia, a girl who does not know who her dad is and secretly decides to invites three men her mum met about nine months before Sophie was born... As you can imagine the story is full of very funny moments. Avery creative use of ABBA hits gives great rhythm and beautiful melodies to a show that is brought to the next level by the great performance of actresses Carolee Carmello and Carey Anderson. Several of the performers like Anderson, Andy Kelso and Lori Haley Fox are making their debut on Broadway and what a start this is!
